Born in 1958 in Rennes.
After studying sociology and social law, Catherine Dubrul decided to devote herself to teaching visual arts and photography.
His images are inspired by nature, dreams and poetry.
“I immerse myself in an inspiring place, I become one with the place, I form bonds. The collection of objects and natural elements, the practice of imprinting and rubbing are all part of my artistic approach.
The image emerges from the power of the emotions felt; the tall grass in which I wallowed as a child, the abusive flowering, the tree and its branches, the plant kingdom, the body, the seaweed, the wave, become so many contemplations and photographic tests that impose themselves on me”.
Catherine Dubrul’s work is rigorous in its procedures and processes, using a variety of silver-based photographic techniques (shooting, photograms, luminograms), combining several processes, and using developer as a plastic material to create new figures.
Everything is handmade, from image creation to development, from silver prints to drying and finishing.
“My images become symbols, linking reality and reverie, earth and spirit, the elements and vital energy”.
